I agreed to terms verbally and now I think I made a huge mistake
I'm trying to stay calm but this is moving faster than I can process.
Timeline:
- Two weeks ago: There are conflicting messages from the other side and I can't tell what is a threat versus what is actually enforceable.
- Two weeks ago: I have a few witnesses willing to confirm details if needed.
- Last week: Transportation is limited for me, so I need to plan around one courthouse trip.
Question: If you were in my position, what 3 actions would you do in the next 7 days?

A one-page timeline plus key documents can make your first lawyer meeting much more useful. Hope that gives you a clear next step.

If money is tight, ask local legal aid and also call the clerk for procedure-only questions. They cannot give legal advice but can clarify filing mechanics.. Also, keep every deadline in one calendar so nothing slips.

There is a path here. general information only: courts reward specificity, credible documentation, and consistent conduct over broad allegations. If safety is an issue, ask about emergency options immediately.

Focus on immediate risk first, then longer-term strategy once deadlines are under control. - you can build from there.. don't rely on memory. Write notes right after calls.

You can improve outcomes by framing requests narrowly and tying them to verifiable facts.

This is stressful, I get it. the strongest preparation is aligning each claim with documentary support and likely counterarguments. Save copies offline too, not just on your phone.

You can improve outcomes by framing requests narrowly and tying them to verifiable facts. - that approach minimizes avoidable mistakes..
